Our new kitchen floor!

A few weeks ago, Nathan and I went to the beach with Grammy, Grandpa Bob, Kelly, Hilary, G.G. Pa and Helen. While we were there, Dad decided that it was time to tear up our nasty kitchen floor and replace it.  This first picture was taken before any tile peeling was done.  You can see that the 12x12 tiles were breaking at the edges and pulling up from the floor.  Thank goodness for the rugs that we had thrown over the really bad spots.
Mom got all the tiles up easily which allowed Dad to start laying the subfloor.
Once the subfloor was down, Mom had a feeling that the kitchen needed something else. There is very little color in our house and she wanted some more.
So, they took one more trip to Lowe's and she decided that she wanted a random, blue wall. It really looks great!
Time to get back to work. Putting down the mortar and the ceramic tiles is a tough job and it takes a while to get all the cuts right but Mom and Dad persevered because they wanted to have a better looking kitchen floor.
This is the all most completed floor. It's actually in the mortar drying phase.  It really does look better than the sticky tiles that were there before.
All most there...the grout is in and it was being wiped down.
After lots of hard work, we finally have a kitchen floor to brag about. The appliances got moved back in as soon as the grout was sealed and dry.
